Travel insurance - The basics

  • If you're looking for value for money travel insurance, we can give you an immediate quote online.
  • Your holiday insurance can cover your partner or family, or just you.
  • You can choose between a single trip policy or an annual multi trip policy.
  • There are two different levels of cover: Travel and Travel Plus. Travel Plus has higher cover limits and extra benefits, such as pet cover and business cover.
  • If you're over 65, or you or anyone travelling has a pre existing medical condition, we're sorry but we are unable to provide you with an online quote. You'll need to phone us and can find our telephone number on the contact us page which can be accessed from the right hand menu.
  • We’re unable to offer cover for pre existing medical conditions unless they have been declared and accepted by the insurer.
  • This travel insurance is arranged by Legal & General and insured by Europ Assistance Holding Irish Branch.

The premium

The premium you pay will depend on:

  • Whether you choose a single trip policy or an annual multi trip policy.
  • How many people you need covered.
  • Your destination.
  • Whether you opt for standard Travel or the Travel Plus policy.
  • The extra cover options you select, such as winter sports cover, which costs an additional premium if you're buying single trip cover.

Exclusions

There are some general exclusions you should know about.

For example, certain sports and activities, or claims arising from excessive alcohol intake. The full list of exclusions is printed in the Travel Insurance policy document and should be read before you buy.

Please can you bear in mind:

  • If you fail to pay your premium you'll no longer be covered.
  • You must give us accurate information when you apply for your policy or you could invalidate it.
  • You'll have to pay the first £35 (the excess) of certain claims.
  • You must live in Great Britain, the Isle of Man, Northern Ireland or the Channel Islands. You must be in a good state of health and fit to travel at the start of each trip.
  • We're unable to offer cover for pre existing medical conditions unless they have been declared and accepted by the insurer.

We recommend that you take your policy document with you on holiday so you can check it if necessary. It contains emergency contact numbers and other guidance. You'll also find these numbers in 'How to claim' on the right hand menu.
